SCOTTSDALE – With great sadness over a life too short and abundant gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Greg Morell on August 31st, 2023 after a battle with a rare neurological disease.

Greg was born February 15, 1958 in Brooklyn, New York to Daniel and Anise Morell. His family later moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he went on to attend high school at Brophy College Preparatory. Greg credited Brophy as the foundation of his affinity for lifelong learning.

He met and married the love of his life, Dawn (Santiago), on November 28, 1992. They raised their two daughters, Hannah and Gina, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Greg was a loving husband and father who devoted his free time to creating memories with his family. His girls reflect fondly on driveway basketball games, chess matches, and many adventurous vacations around the U.S. He also shared a passion for Major League Baseball with his family, especially his New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Arizona State University, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Decades after college, he remained committed to mentoring student members as they started their careers.

Greg leaves behind a 41 year career in financial advising and was known by his colleagues and clients for the great compassion, intelligence, and detail he poured into his work. He valued his team and would spend as much time teaching them as he did his clients. He always made an effort, regardless of what was pressing his calendar.

Above all, Greg was a man of steadfast faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ. A gifted teacher, he loved to share his deep-rooted wisdom with others. He gave his time generously to the community, including service on the board of The Neighborhood Christian Clinic and small group leadership through his church, Scottsdale Bible. During his girls’ childhood years, he taught Sunday school alongside his wife and led Awana during the week. Greg’s life exemplified God’s love and grace, and those who knew him will be forever changed.

Greg leaves behind his wife, Dawn, mother, Anise, brother, Daniel, daughter Hannah and son-in-law Ryan, daughter Gina and son-in-law Tayler, and many beloved cousins and friends.

Friends and family are welcome to join Greg’s Celebration of Life at 3:30pm September 22nd at Scottsdale Bible Church, located at 7601 E. Shea Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.

Donations in Greg’s honor can be made to the Neighborhood Christian Clinic: https://thechristianclinic.org
