Nancy Berry Dickinson

-

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Nancy Berry Dickinson, 74, passed away on September 9, 2023, in Chandler, Arizona, from complications of cancer.

Born on September 21, 1948, in Englewood, New Jersey, to Charles and Rose Marie Berry, Nancy grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey while spending her summers in Green Pond, New Jersey, where she became an avid sailor by the age of 10. After attending Ridgewood High School, Nancy graduated from Virginia Intermont College in 1968 with an Associates Degree in Physical Education. Her first job following college was teaching gym at the Montclair Kimberley Academy in Montclair, New Jersey, making the daily commute from Green Pond in her white Volkswagen Beetle (with a hole in the floorboards that would soak the front passenger when driving over a puddle in a rainstorm!)

Nancy spent most of her professional life working for Intel Corporation. She started as an HR admin in 1979 and worked her way up the corporate ladder over the course of the next 37 years. She retired in 2015 as manager of a joint team of HR compensation and benefits analysts. Human Resources was a natural fit for Nancy as she was passionate about helping people and tenacious about solving problems.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Derek. She is survived by her children: Jason (Mary) Waters and Chris (Justin) Dickinson; grandchildren: Riley, Quinn, and Sky; stepchildren: Colin (Penny) Dickinson and Heidi (Bob) Dickinson; step-grandchildren: Heather (Nick), Tyler, Sean, and April (Alec); step-great-grandchildren: Ryland, Weston, and Mavis; brothers: Charles (Linda), David (Claudia), and Drew (Judy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was a friend to many and will be dearly missed by her ladies circle, her workout group, her neighbors, and the students and teachers at Kyrene de la Mirada Elementary School, where she volunteered for many years.

Nancy had a soft spot for animals, and especially for animals in need. Over the years, she has given a kind and loving home to many special needs pets, from cats and dogs to parakeets and fish. She is also survived by Millie, her rescue dog, who will now live with one of her children.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Nancy’s memory with a donation to your local animal shelter or the Arizona Humane Society, https:// www.azhumane.org/
