Marilyn Wagner Taylor
SCOTTSDALE – Marilyn Wagner Taylor died peacefully in her sleep on September 28, 2023 at her residence at Westminster Village in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was a serene closure to a life well-lived, leaving behind a legacy of love, contentment, and gratitude.
She was born to Carl and Bernice Homer Wagner in Macomb, Illinois, on October 11, 1932. After graduating from Illinois State University with a degree in elementary education, she married C. Eugene Taylor. They made their home in Canton, Illinois for 60 years. In retirement, Marilyn moved to Phoenix, AZ with her late husband to live near their daughters and grandchildren. She relished every moment, finding joy in forging new friendships.
Marilyn dedicated her time to various organizations, including First Christian Church of Canton, P.E.O., the Altruistic Club, Love Incorporated, and NSDAR. Her volunteerism exemplified her love of service and in 1997, Marilyn was celebrated as Women of Achievement by the Canton YWCA. She enjoyed singing in the church choir as well as cooking and entertaining. She had a gift for hospitality and a competitive spirit for Bridge and games of any kind.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Ann Curry (Steven) of Phoenix AZ, Sara McLees (Ted) of Scottsdale AZ, Susan Van Sickle (Fred) of Ithaca NY, and David Taylor (Susan) of Atlanta GA. She loved her grandchildren Matthew Curry (Misty), Aaron Curry (Heather Magsarili), Rachel Curry (Shawn Pfunder), Kathryn Van Sickle, Colin Van Sickle (Sophia), Jacob McLees, Paul McLees, Jonathan Taylor (Erin) and Elliott Taylor (Amy) and her two great granddaughters, Taylor and Grace Curry. She is also survived by her sister Jean Wagner McEwen of Bushnell, Illinois.
