Alasdair Gray, the film is about Bella Baxter (Stone) who is rediscovering what it means to be a human and a woman after she is brought back to life with an infant brain by mad scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter, played by Willem Dafoe.

The book is about a woman whose life becomes complicated by her husband Archibald McCandless, who claims she was a corpse in his autobiography, “Episodes from the Early Life of a
Scottish Public Health Officer.”
He claims she had her brain swapped with an infant’s by Dr. Godwin Baxter and pursues other men including McCandless and lawyer Duncan Wedderburn, with whom she goes on an adventure across the world.
