The drive from Phoenix to Vegas is horrible. Please fix it, already

-

I just completed a road trip to Las Vegas and was astonished by the poor conditions of the myriad roads necessary to complete the trip.

The two largest (not to mention fastest growing) cities in the desert Southwest are connected by a series of poorly surfaced two-lane and divided highways, including junctions that require routes through small town roads.

Meanwhile, I can travel from Salt Lake City to Reno on “Super” Interstate 80. I can also travel from Maine to Florida on I-95 without ever stopping at a traffic light or negotiating a traffic circle.

This is an infrastructure failure that defies comprehension. We need the leaders of Arizona and Nevada to demand funds to build Interstate 11.

It’d take Emma Stone for Coyotes to gain coverage

The Arizona Coyotes are a much improved team. Their record, quality of play and competitiveness have risen immensely since the last few seasons.

Obviously, we are Coyotes fans. I admit the team is realistically one to three years away from being a top tier NHL team. Yet, hope springs eternal and Coyotes fans know the impossible is quite possible with this team.

After reviewing last Wednesday’s sports page, I was happy to see Emma Stone’s picture and detailed article revealing she waved at a Phoenix Suns player. However, searching for any Coyotes news, whatsoever, continues to be a challenge.

When the Coyotes contend for the Stanley Cup in a few years, I hope Emma Stone is in Houston or Quebec City waving at the Stanley Cup champions.

Then, maybe we can read something about hockey!
