SCOTTSDALE – Robert Stanton Watson, 69, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed January 1st, 2024. He was born September 20th, 1954 in Iola, Kansas to Lois Jean Watson (Nystrom) & Clyde William Watson. Robert was a cherished son, brother, uncle and friend. For the last two decades he lovingly cared for his dear mother Lois.

Robert worked as a laborer all his life. He was a humble man with many hidden talents.

Robert had an insatiable hunger for learning. Over the years, he developed an impressive knowledge in numerous fields of study, eagerly absorbing many topics: History, Geography, Geology, and Cosmology. His favorite was the diversity of all plant & animal life. He loved nature & found great solace when exploring all over the Southwest: camping, hiking, mountain climbing, and photograph­ing the natural landscape, often accompanie­d by elder brother Richard Mark Watson. Robert & Mark were recognized in 1975 by the Anaheim Police Department for their “prompt action” in “administer­ing first aid” “instrument­al in saving the life” of an officer seriously injured when his helicopter crashed on a mountainsi­de near Idyllwild-Pine Cove, California.

Robert made Arizona his home for nearly 60 years. He bravely faced many health challenges. His deep love of Mother Earth is what he lived for & now he has returned to Her.

Robert was proceeded in death by his father Clyde William Watson & brother Richard Mark Watson (Anne). He is survived by his mother Lois Jean Watson & siblings Kathy Ann Watson (Stephanie) & Scott Edward Watson (‘Ivy’ Kuei Yen), nieces & nephews Kathryn Anne Rollins Barnes (Ivan) & David Elliot Rollins (Caroline), Allegra Lois Watson, Siena Fiona Watson, & Lila Grace Watson.

Robert will be laid to rest within the Watson family plot at the Grandview - Mill Creek - Stockdale Cemetery in Leonardvil­le, Kansas.
