Martha Hilton (Jobe) Allyn

-

CHANDLER – Martha “Marty” Hilton Allyn (Jobe) was embraced in God’s loving arms on January 5, 2024. Marty, as she was known throughout her entire life, passed away due to heart failure at Chandler Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Marty was a lifelong Arizona resident born in Jerome, Arizona, on July 23, 1938, as her father worked in the copper mines. Her family moved to Tennessee and then back to Arizona, where her father farmed cotton, alfalfa, and many other crops and livestock.

Marty graduated from Chandler High School in 1956, and she attended her yearly reunions with her many friends from that time, only stopping when she could not get a ride to the reunion.

Marty married the Love of her life, Jim Allyn Sr., in 1960, and they remained married until Jim’s death in 2014. They had three wonderful children: Jim Jr., Hank, and Cathy. Marty was proud of her kids and praised each one of them regardless of what anyone else thought.

Marty worked several jobs in her life, including working as a potato packer in Queen Creek, where she slipped and fell, breaking her tailbone. But the job that she dedicated most of her life to was Nursing.

Marty worked as a nurse’s aide at the old Chandler hospital for several years and then was encouraged to go back to school to obtain her nursing degree. Marty studied hard and graduated from Mesa Community College in 1980 as Valedictorian of her class. Marty then began working in the ER at Chandler Regional Hospital and led that department for several years. She then transferred to Medical/Surgical and was director of Med/Surg for almost twenty years. Marty was also the Director of Nursing during her time at Chandler Regional Hospital. Anyone who knew Marty from those days knew she always had time to talk or answer questions, preferably in her office with the huge poster of a young Tom Selleck watching over the discussion. Marty was very proud of her team and was never one to look for praise, but she was well respected and loved by everyone who worked with her. She continued working at Chandler Regional until her retirement in 2009, joining the Retired Nurses group for their monthly luncheon, where they rehashed old times and kept up on the lives of the people she had known for over fifty years.

Marty was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jim Allyn Sr., her mother, Lucille Jobe, her father, Emmett Jobe, and her daughter, Cathy Allyn.

Marty is survived by her brother, Buddy Jobe, her sister Cindie Jobe, and her two sons, Jim Allyn Jr., his wife, Kathy Sue, and her grandchildren, Jimmy Allyn and Maggie Allyn, and her second son Hank Allyn and his wife, Maria Allyn. Perhaps the apple of her eye and her life is her granddaughter, Sarah Allyn Drennon. Marty was so proud of the changes that Sarah had made in her life and loved her dearly.

Marty will be missed by everyone who knew her, but she is in the arms of the Loving God and no longer has to hurt.

Please join the family in a celebration of Life for Marty on February 3rd at 10:30 am at Crossroads Nazarene Church, Ministry Center, Room M2, 2950 W Ray Rd, Chandler, AZ 85224
