SCOTTSDALE – Suzanne B. Jackson, affectionately known as “Sue,” passed away peacefully at 91 in Scottsdale, Arizona, on January 27, 2024. Born on May 6, 1932, in Freemont, Nebraska, she cherished her upbringing by Marion and Jewel Buckles, alongside her mother’s sisters, Radiance, Gloria, and Joy.

Sue’s thirst for adventure began early, leading her to graduate from Cleveland Heights High School and pursue education at St. Joseph Junior College and Northwestern University, where she proudly joined Kappa Alpha Theta. Her adventurous spirit flourished as she soared through the skies as an American Airlines stewardess, exploring new horizons.

An avid golfer, Sue found joy and challenge on the greens, often shooting in the 80s. She was a fervent supporter of the Suns, KU Basketball, and the Kansas City Chiefs, and enjoyed attending prestigious golf tournaments worldwide. Sue’s adventurous nature extended to hot air ballooning, embracing the freedom and beauty of the skies.

Deeply devoted to her family, Sue is survived by her children Sherwood (Dede) Johnston, Benjamin Johnston, Jennifer J Johnson, and Stephanie Johnston; her beloved sister Judy Diamond; and her cherished 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 7 nieces and nephews.

Sue’s home radiated warmth and hospitality, hosting memorable dinner parties and card games, where her sharp wit and love of Solitaire & Spite and Malice were evident. Her culinary skills, particularly during the holidays, brought joy to all, with Christmas cookies Cheesecake, her Meatloaf and Beef Stroganoff being family favorites.

Beyond her family life and sports passions, Sue had a deep love for elephants and enjoyed jazz and dancing. Her generosity and kindness touched many lives, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and love.

Sue Jackson’s life was a tapestry of vibrant experiences, deep connections, and boundless love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Rest peacefully, dear Sue. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
