SCOTTSDALE – Barbara Gail Winslow Levario, 86, of Scottsdale, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 2, 2024.

She was born on November 7, 1937, to Thelma and Fred Winslow, both deceased. She attended Longview Elementary School and North High School in Phoenix. Barbara joined her father at the wholesale grocery distributo­r Smart & Final where she was the office manager for 20 years. She continued in that role at S.E. Rykoff. Before retiring in 1988, she was a small business owner in Tuba City, along with her husband of 69 years, Dr. Matthew Levario.

In retirement, Barbara learned the art of dollmaking and produced award winning porcelain dolls. She loved traveling with her husband venturing to China, South America, Europe, Australia, and frequently to Mexico as well as traversing the U.S. sightseein­g and visiting family.

Barbara was an active volunteer with South Scottsdale Little League, ensuring the concession stand was well stocked. She was a passionate rose gardener, with her bushes the envy of the neighborho­od. She also bred and raised Boston Terriers, and so loved her English Bulldogs.

She is survived by her husband Matthew, and their five children: Mark (Cynthia) Levario, Port Deposit, MD, Craig (Sharon) Levario, Mesa, Andrea (Dimitrios Douros) Levario, Santa Cruz, CA, Tiffany Tokos, Scottsdale, Jennifer (Bill) Sheridan, San Ramon, Costa Rica, along with 11 grandchild­ren and 10 great-grandchild­ren. Also surviving her a brother Paul (Kali) Winslow, Scottsdale, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Barbara will be held on Tuesday, February 20 at 2 p.m. at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (pulmonaryf­ibrosis.org) or Hospice of the Valley (hov.org).
