Donna Rose (Surface) Homsher

PHOENIX - Donna Rose (Surface) Homsher, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 6, 1939, in Victoria, Texas, to Mildred (Mears) Surface and Clarence Surface. This Yellow Rose of Texas later moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1962 with her husband, Jack R Homsher where they began their family. You can take the girl out of Texas, but you’ll never take Texas out of the girl! Donna dedicated her life to empowering young girls guiding them with compassion and wisdom, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives. Donna’s talents ranged from competitive diving and pep squad leadership to skilled seamstress work, creating costumes for her daughters and grandson. Her landscaping transformed the backyard, and her captivating writing touched many. Her favorite activities were swimming and hiking, or anything that kept her out in nature. During her 23 years at the Arizona State Capitol, she supported legislators diligently and fought for democracy. Donna continued her public service after retirement assisting the Cordova Neighborhood Association. Laughter was central to Donna’s life; she was known as the life of the party! Above all, she’ll be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to family and friends. Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Jack R Homsher, her daughters Kendra S Homsher and Andrea L Homsher, her grandson Devin A Homsher, and a host of cherished relatives and friends.
