Rookie WR chooses number

- José M. Romero

Marvin Harrison Jr. will apparently carry his No. 18 jersey number from college into the NFL.

Harrison, the Arizona Cardinals’ top draft pick in this year’s NFL draft, posted a photo on his Instagram account of a red Cardinals jersey with his last name and the number 18 in white on it. It might mean he brokered a deal of some kind with teammate BJ Ojulari to give him the number, which had been Ojulari’s. It isn’t clear if Harrison has signed the NFL Players Association’s group licensing agreement.

It also is not clear if and when fans can order Harrison’s jersey. The Fanatics sports apparel web page with Cardinals apparel did not contain Harrison jerseys Tuesday night.

ESPN reported late last week that Harrison has a separate, individual memorabilia deal with Fanatics. He has another endorsement deal with New Balance.

The jersey in the photo Harrison posted doesn’t show a Nike insignia. Harrison is selling signed memorabilia on his own site, called the Official Harrison Collection.

The Cardinals’ roster page on the team website still lists Ojulari, a secondyear outside linebacker, as No. 18 with no number for Harrison.

Other jersey numbers for Cardinals rookie draft picks, per the X account NFL Jersey Numbers, are as follows: Defensive end Darius Robinson (56, formerly belonging to linebacker Krys Barnes), cornerback Max Melton (16), tight end Tip Reiman (87), wide receiver Tejhaun Palmer (83), offensive lineman Christian Jones (75), offensive lineman Isaiah Adams (74, formerly worn by D.J. Humphries), edge rusher Xavier Thomas (54), safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson (42), defensive back Jaden Davis (39), running back Trey Benson (33, formerly belonging to Antonio Hamilton), and defensive back Elijah Jones (28).
