SCOTTSDALE - Janis Ann (Lindgren) Sargeant, 87, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, June 21, 2024. She was born February 1, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Leslie Vernon and Dorothy Elizabeth (Bood) Lindgren. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, and her sister Barbara Jane Lewis.

She had a heart of gold and always looked for the positive in life’s ups and downs. She was a joy to all her family and friends passing along her Swedish traditions, and love for Arizona and its sports.

She grew up in Hinsdale, Illinois and attended the University of Colorado, Lawrence College (Wisconsin), and then landed at the University of Arizona where she became President of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. She quickly became a fan of Arizona and never left, spending 65 years here.

She was proud of her career in the title industry, working as an Escrow Officer for many years with most of her time at Security Title Agency. Through her career she gained many lifetime friends and years of success.

Her favorite activities were spending time with her family and great friends, golfing, watching sports, and gardening. She had a great love for music, especially Elton John, The Beatles and ABBA. She loved sharing all about family history and wanted to be sure we appreciated our Swedish heritage. She loved to travel and always believed that was the best education, and achieved her great dream of cruising the Panama Canal. She had a love for ladybugs and we all went with her on her 71st birthday to watch her get a ladybug tattoo.

Janis is survived by her daughters, Stori Ann (Sargeant) Ruhter (Blaine) of Scottsdale, AZ, and Tami Sue Sargeant of Glendale, AZ, three loving grandchildren, Amanda Ruhter (Kevin) of Cave Creek, AZ, Brittany Garcia of Phoenix, AZ, Austin Sargeant of Phoenix, AZ, two precious great-grandchildren, Penelope Lynn of Phoenix, AZ and Kyler Hillebrand of Cave Creek, AZ, and her brother, William Bood Lindgren of Scottsdale, AZ; Nieces and nephew, Kristine (Lewis) Schwank, Kim (Lewis) Kusel, Stephanie Lewis, Rob Lewis, Courtney (Lindgren) Francis, Piper (Lindgren) Sheldon, and former husband William Pierson Sargeant III.

She was a second Mom to Jerry Budnik (Gwen) and they will always share a special bond.

The family extends their thanks to Hospice of the Valley-Eckstein Center, of Scottsdale, AZ for their guidance and true support.

A private memorial service will be held by the family where she will be laid to rest at Paradise Memorial Gardens of Scottsdale, AZ, where her parents were also laid to rest.

The family will be holding a Celebration of her life as she wished, at a future date.

Ladybugs are a symbol of good luck, positivity, love, and protection all of which she embodied and will be remembered for.
