Where teams stand
The Padres come in with the second National League wild card spot, while the DBacks trail in the playoff picture. San Diego came into the series sporting a 4843 record, compared to the DBacks’ 4344 record at the start of the series.
Both having been offensive teams so far, the Padres outscore the DBacks by a run (421 to 420). They also post an ERA of 0.60 points, which is better than the DBacks’ 4.65 team ERA. The DBacks, however, have won four of their last five
games prior to the series.
This is in large part due to Christian Walker’s five-game multi-hit streak, where he has launched five home runs
and driven in 11 RBIs. In addition, he scored eight times and hit .650 with a 2.258 OPS during that streak. (All statistics and records in article are as of July 5.)
