Former Bulldog King arrested

OAK GROVE, Minn. — Former Georgia running back Caleb King was arrested Saturday on suspicion of assaulting another man, authoritie­s in Minnesota said.

The Anoka County sheriff ’s office said King, a running back with the Minnesota Vikings, assaulted a 22-year-old man, causing skull and facial fractures and cuts that required more than 50 stitches to close. The man is hospitaliz­ed in serious condition.

The sheriff ’s department said King assaulted the victim at a party after the man teased King about resembling a certain celebrity.

Sheriff ’s Cmdr. Paul Sommer said King denied assaulting the man, saying the victim fell to the ground when King was talking to him.

King was being held on a tentative charge of third-degree assault.

“We talked about coming in here and getting some wide loads,” Dimitroff said. “Quite honestly, Lamar is a double-wide load. He’s a big man who has a presence, as far as his stature.”

Smith would not say if Holmes is expected to take over at left tackle for Sam Baker or if the team has considered moving Tyson Clabo to the left side.

“We’re going to have an open competitio­n,” Smith said. “I think competitio­n brings out the best in everyone. These two [linemen] that we added, we’re going to put them right in the mix. We are going to have a very competitiv­e offseason, and it will start with the rookie minicamp in two weeks.”

Konz had some medical issues in college with blood clots in his lungs and with his ankles.
