Look who’s 3-0: The best record in Region 4 belongs to ... McIntosh? Believe it or not. The Chiefs are 3-0 for the first time in the program’s 31year history after beating Ola 14-6. Ian Timmins returned a fumble for a touchdown and Andrew Johnson threw a TD pass to Duke Kinnamon as McIntosh took a 14-0 lead and held on, according to the Fayette Citizen. The Chiefs, who were 1-9 last year and lost to Ola in overtime in the regularseason finale, won three or fewer games in 20 of their previous 30 seasons. McIntosh will play Drew next.
Big night for Watson: Granted, it came against a Winder-Barrow team that has lost 27 consecutive games, but Gainesville had a great debut in AAAAA after moving up from AAA with a 690 victory. Junior quarterback Deshaun Watson played only the first half as Gainesville built a 620 lead. Watson was 16-for16 passing for 331 yards and seven touchdowns and had 41 yards and a TD rushing, according to the Gainesville Times.
Region 5-AAAAA to be decided Nov. 9: Allatoona and No. 7 East Paulding emerged from Friday’s games as the only undefeated teams in the region, and they appear likely to stay that way heading into the season finale at East Paulding. Allatoona, which reached the state quarterfinals in AAA, knocked off the region’s other undefeated team with a 39-17 victory against Rome. East Paulding routed Paulding County 52-0 and has outscored its opponents 13917 in three games.
Notable: Riverwood is 3-0 for the first time since 2005 after a 59-13 victory against North Springs. ... No. 6 Warner Robins was one of two ranked AAAAA teams to lose Friday. The other was No. 3 Kell.
