The medieval fortress Conwy was built for Edward I between 1283 and 1289 on top of craggy rock formations along the River Conwy. This UNESCO heritage site has eight towers, two fortified gateways and picturesque views from the battlements and from a suspension bridge built in 1826 on the eastern side of the river. Conwy castle is open for tours daily.
