The medieval fortress Conwy was built for Edward I between 1283 and 1289 on top of craggy rock formations along the River Conwy. This UNESCO heritage site has eight towers, two fortified gateways and picturesqu­e views from the battlement­s and from a suspension bridge built in 1826 on the eastern side of the river. Conwy castle is open for tours daily.
