If these young athletes played at the college level, their exploits would have been all over the highlight shows. Last week, five of the top high school players in Georgia put forth some of the more memorable performanc­es in years. Here are the highlights ... in print:

● Burke County quarterbac­k Donquell Green rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns on 27 attempts and was 5-of-8 passing for 113 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-21 victory against Coffee.

● Calhoun wide receiver Josh Barnes had 18 receptions for 204 yards in a 46-35 victory against Carrollton.

● Gainesvill­e quarterbac­k Deshaun Watson was 18-of-18 passing for seven touchdowns and 350 yards in a 69-0 victory against Winder-Barrow. Only three players in Georgia history have thrown for more than seven touchdowns in a game, according to the Georgia High School Football Historians Associatio­n.

● Lassiter wide receiver Willie Police had six receptions for 206 yards and four touchdowns — all in the first half — in a 42-13 victory against Kell.

● Swainsboro running back Jemerico Bell rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries, intercepte­d two passes, one for a touchdown, broke up three passes, made six tackles, recovered a fumble and returned three kickoffs for 97 yards in a 44-41 victory against Pierce County.
