Play-in game survivors: The top four seeds in Region 7 advanced to the state playoffs with victories in the region’s winner-take-all play-in games, but two of them had close calls. Division A winner Creekview needed three overtimes to eliminate Riverwood 3628, and Pope squandered a 17-point lead before knocking out Northview 31-28. Kell and Sequoyah had easier times. ... Top seeds Union Grove and Whitewater and No. 2 seed Creekside all won by at least three touchdowns in the Region 4 play-in games.

Region 6 finally sorted out: M.L. King already had clinched the region title, but five other teams went into the final weekend with a chance to claim a playoff berth or improve their seeding. Stephenson clinched the No. 2 spot with a victory over North Atlanta, and Tucker escaped with a 14-7 win over Mays to claim the No. 3 seed. The victories by Stephenson and Tucker clinched the fourth playoff berth for Southwest DeKalb, but the Panthers made it official with a 33-12 victory over Dunwoody.
