Playing for the first time since winning the Australian Open, topranked Novak Djokovic came through with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Vasek Pospisil in the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Also, third-seeded Andy Murray defeated Gilles Muller 6-4, 7-5, and fourth-seeded Tomas Berdych beat Jeremy Chardy 7-6 (2), 6-4.

Qatar Open: Sixthseeded Andrea Petkovic advanced to the second round with a 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-2 win over Belgian qualifier Kirsten Flipkens.

Argentina Open: No. 5-seeded Leonardo Mayer reached the second round by defeating Stephane Robert 6-0, 6-1.
