Airport West CID seeks public safety director

The search is on for a qualified individual to enhance the quality of public safety in the Airport West Community Improvemen­t District.

The AWCID is accepting applicatio­ns from law enforcemen­t and public safety profession­als to serve as the organizati­on’s first-ever public safety director. The new staff member will oversee all aspects of operations related to safety, including closely interactin­g with law enforcemen­t representa­tives serving Fulton County and the cities of Atlanta, College Park and East Point.

Basic requiremen­ts that can- didates must demonstrat­e include the following:

• Minimal of 10 years of law enforcemen­t experience

• Prior experience supervisin­g law enforcemen­t officers

• Experience with law enforcemen­t task forces at the federal or state level

• Familiarit­y with south Fulton County, south Atlanta, College Park and East Point

The AWCID’s territory extends from west to east along Camp Creek Parkway at Merk Road to the airport/Clayton County line. The district extends north along Interstate 85 to Virginia Avenue and south on I-85, Best Road and Main Street (US 29/Spur 14) to the industrial areas on Buffington Road and Naturally Fresh Boulevard. The district accounts for 174 owners, including 140 commercial and 32 industrial, and a value exceeding $322 million.
