Falcons starting left tackle Jake Matthews, who had offseason foot surgery, checked into his condo for training camp Thursday and said he was cleared for practice.

Also, right guard Jon Asamoah (ankle) has been cleared. The Falcons open practice today.

Matthews, who was the sixth pick in the 2014 draft, started 15 games as a rookie.

Asamoah, who was signed as a free agent in 2014 and started 15 games at right guard last season, suffered a serious ankle injury over the offseason. He was held out of most of the OTAs and minicamp.
