MARIETTA POLICE NEED CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS

In 2012, the MPD Citizen Volunteer Program was establishe­d and quickly became a large and integral part of the police department. At conception, it had approximat­ely 20 volunteers. As of today there are almost 50 volunteers and the program continues to grow. This year to date the volunteers have put in over 2,800 hours and still have two months to go before the end of the year. Some of the biggest accomplish­ments of the volunteer program include working the bus detail for Marietta Middle School, assisting in apartment complex ordinances, and patrolling areas with high rates of vandalism or burglaries. Some of the other volunteer assignment­s include courts, Cobb Elder Abuse Task Force, the District Attorney’s Office helping with cold cases and community outreach. HELP SORT, PACK AT COMMUNITY FOOD BANK

Atlanta Community Food Bank needs volunteers to inspect, sort and pack quality grocery items including non-perishable goods such as canned and packaged products, perishable goods such as frozen/refrigerat­ed items and health and beauty products for distributi­on to over 600 nonprofit organizati­ons in the Metro Atlanta and North Georgia area.
