Celtics’ Bradley likely out for rest of series

-

Boston Celtics shooting guard Avery Bradley is “very unlikely” to play during the rest of the opening-round playoff series against the Hawks after suffering a right hamstring injury in Game 1 on Saturday night.

“Avery has a pretty significant strained hamstring,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens told reporters Sunday.

Bradley suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Hawks’ 102-101 victory. The injury occurred with 6:42 remaining and the Celtics leading 83-80.

The Hawks outscored the Celtics 22-18 from that point to win the opener.

Bradley had 18 points before leaving the game. He was 7 of 16 from the floor, including 1 of 7 from 3-point range.

Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer heard the news regarding Bradley moments before speaking to the media Sunday: “He’s a heck of a player, heck of a defender. He does a lot of things for them on both ends of the court but I’m sure there are other guys there looking to do more and step up with more opportunity.” you can to be ready. Know who your guys are going to be in the lineup, and just be prepared.

“And we’ve been fortunate enough to go out there and do our job when the phone rings, and continuing to have the right preparation and get yourself ready when the phone rings is a big thing about being part of a successful bullpen.”

“The big key, to be honest, is Cervenka,” manager Fredi Gonzalez said. “That second left-hander (to go with Eric O’Flaherty) has been able to kind of settle that bullpen a little bit.”

Gwinnett Braves sweep Norfolk Tides

Ronnier Mustelier put Gwinnett ahead for good with an RBI single in the third inning, and the G-Braves (9-2) edged the Norfolk Tides (2-8) by a 4-3 score at Coolray Field for a four-game series sweep. The G-Braves continue the homestand tonight with the opener of a three-game series against the Durham Bulls. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Mike Foltynewicz (1-0, 0.90 ERA) will pitch for Gwinnett.
