Man arrested after stolen car crashes

A disoriented driver didn’t even try to run after crashing a stolen car, ending a police chase Tuesday, police say.

The chase started in Union City when, police say, an 18-year-old man stole a Chrysler 300, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The short chase ended with a single-vehicle crash, police said. When the car exited I-20 at Moreland Avenue at such a high rate of speed, driver Damon Javon Clay couldn’t negotiate the turn, officers said.

Clay lost control, leaving the car twisted against the guard rail, and officers found a black handgun on the floorboard, they said.

When Clay got out of the passenger door, Union City police officers said, they immediately took him into custody. Police believe the driver may have stolen the car after being offered a ride. and must attend training classes and at least 80 percent of all meetings.

Applicants must have lived in Peachtree City for a minimum of six months. Details are at www. peachtree-city.org/jobs; applications are due Aug. 26.
