Questlove to host show on Pandora
Roots drummer Questlove is starting a new three-hour weekly show on the streaming music service Pandora that will feature music, interviews and conversations from the Grammy-winning musician.
Pandora announced the partnership on Wednesday and said “Questlove Supreme” will debut Sept. 7 on his new Pandora station. Guests include comedian Maya Rudolph, producer and engineer Bob Power, and musician Kimbra.
Questlove, who is the musical director of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” will also serve as a strategic adviser and the first artist ambassador for Pandora.
Pandora founder and CEO Tim Westergren said in a statement that the musician’s “near encyclopedic knowledge of the theory and history of music and his abiding passion for supporting artists of all kinds is a perfect match for our mission.”
Pharrell to receive songwriting award
Pharrell has a new reason to be “Happy.”
Clive Davis is honoring the “Happy” and “Freedom” singer-songwriter with his Legend in Songwriting Award.
Pharrell is scheduled to receive the honor from the veteran music executive at the 12th annual Songs of Hope event on Sept. 15.
The annual event benefits the City of Hope, a research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases in Duarte, California.
Jennifer Lawrence tops Forbes list
Despite a drop in earnings this year, Jennifer Lawrence has been named the world’s highest-paid actress for the second year in a row.
“The Hunger Games” headliner and “X-Men: Apocalypse” star brought in an estimated $46 million in the last 12 months, according to Forbes magazine, which compiles the annual list of moneymakers.
