Lee Street Park receives development award
The Atlanta Regional Commission presented a Developments of Excellence Award to the Lee Street Park and Amphitheater in Jonesboro last month.
The commission acknowledged the park’s Livable Centers Initiative for transforming the formerly underutilized 5.7acre park into a vibrant tourism attraction in Jonesboro.
Each year the Atlanta Regional Commission awards a local city for its Livable Centers Initiative programs. The commission also provides grants for communities that succeed in developing tourist-friendly and family-welcoming attractions in any of the 10 counties in the region surrounding Atlanta.
City has new burn permit available on web page
With cooler and wetter weather lately, the Peachtree City Fire Marshal has resumed issuing outdoor burning permits online on days when weather is favorable. Burning is still not permitted during periods of “drought, very low humidity, excessive winds, rain, wet conditions that would create excess smoke and heavy overcast or conditions that prohibit the dispersion of smoke.”
The city’s new web page for noting whether burning is allowed on any given day is www.peachtree-city.org/burn. The page has a link for homeowners to complete a form for a burn permit. The permit must be printed and kept on hand for the entire time any burning is being conducted.
