Virtual reality film: The short, virtual reality film “Surviving Syria” will depict the life of a young boy and his family who now live as refugees. The total presentation time will be 15 minutes, and guests will be able to visit from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 19 at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Beer and conversation: During Growlers + God Talk, the Rev. Matthew Wright, a priest-in-charge at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Woodstock, N.Y., will discuss ideas and practices to foster a spiritually authentic, engaged, purposeful life from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 24 at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church. Scholarship fundraiser: A scholarship fundraiser for college-bound students from Atlanta will be held from 7-11 p.m. Feb. 25 at Georgia Freight Depot (65 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive S.W., Atlanta). Hosted by Hillside International Truth Center Inc., the fundraiser will feature music by Howard Hewett, R&B singer and former member of the band Shalamar. A balloon-pop for prizes and a photo bar will round out the evening’s fun, and former scholarship recipient and Atlanta entertainer Chandri Morton along with the 911 Band will keep the music going all night.
