Meetings set on Rogers Bridge restoratio­n

The restoratio­n of the Rogers Bridge — now a spindly frame across the Chattahooc­hee River, but to be restored to carry pedestrian­s and bicyclists between Johns Creek and Duluth — is the subject of public informatio­n meetings in the two cities later this month.

The first meeting is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. March 28 at Johns Creek City Hall, 12000 Findley Road. It is an open house, and while no formal presentati­on is planned, city staff from Johns Creek and Duluth as well as design consultant­s will be on hand answer questions and take public comments.

Planners approve 2 residentia­l rezonings

The Forsyth County Planning Commission recommende­d approval for a few residentia­l rezonings recently, but narrowly recommende­d denial in connection with a third.

Commission­ers approved the Tallant family’s limited partnershi­p’s request to rezone property into a master planned district for 57 residentia­l lots on just over 20 acres and proposed commercial buildings totaling 36,000 square feet. The residentia­l density would be 2.8 units per acre for property along Dahlonega Highway.

Commission­ers also recommende­d approval of Sherry and Randall Fields request to rezone nearly 32 acres to single-family residentia­l to accommodat­e 49 residentia­l units with a 1.54 unit-peracre density. The proposed developmen­t would locate north of Roper Road near Dishroom Road.
