Blend: ‘Forever Doo Wop’

Travel back in time to the days when poodle skirts and slicked-back hair were all the rage as the a cappella doo wop group Blend makes the past come alive in song. The quartet performs hits from the ’50s and ’60s such as “Barbara Ann” and “Don’t Be Cruel” while adding its personal twist to traditional songs such as “Amazing Grace.” Doors open 30 minutes before the show, and tickets can be purchased in advance online. For $125, you can snag a table for four and a bottle of wine. The bobby socks and leather jackets are entirely optional. (Note the location on the Marietta Square, not the Lyric’s usual digs.)

Lemonade stand competition

It’s always a good time for a refreshing glass of lemonade, especially if life hasn’t been handing you lemons lately. Generation Z is combining the classic beverage with its mission to teach kids about entrepreneurship with a lemonade stand competition. Approximately 50 youngsters from the metro area will set up stands and serve lemonade to compete to see who has the best beverage. Profits from the event fund tutoring efforts for kids. Nerf Night

Let your kids tucker themselves out this Saturday by running, jumping and blasting the night away, while you and your significant other enjoy some quiet time on your own. Roswell ASAP (After School Achievement Program) invites parents to have a romantic dinner or take in a grown-up movie while the children enjoy a night of supervised fun. The evening comes with a pizza dinner and access to the video game lab, but the highlight of the night is sure to be the all-out Nerf war, staged on a 6,000-square-foot activity mat. Nerf weapons will be provided, but if your child already has one, bring it along. Just leave the ammo at home as there will be plenty on site.
