Private school had roaches in kitchen

The kitchen at a private school received a passing grade after failing a recent health inspection. Officials had noted a dead roach in a prep sink and two live roaches near another sink.

Romar Academy, a pre-K through sixth grade private school located in East Point, most recently received an 87/B after scoring 44/U following earlier this month; 69 and below is considered failing. The latest report noted new violations including “no toilet tissue” in the women’s restroom and no paper towels in the men’s restroom.

According to the earlier report, there were raw shelled eggs stored directly on top of cooked green beans in a cooler. Officials also reported observing a failure to provide active managerial control or a certified food safety manager.

Follow-up inspections are generally completed within 10 days of the original evaluation.
