Dale Earnhardt Jr. is going to be rather busy in retirement. NASCAR’s most popular driver has announced his wife is expecting the couple’s first child. Earnhardt posted a picture of a pink pair of baby girl Converse on Instagram to announce he and wife Amy are having a daughter. He did not reveal a due date. Earnhardt has five races left before he retires from his final fulltime season in NASCAR. Earnhardt was married on Dec. 31.

Jags apologize for U.K. protest
The Jacksonville Jaguars have apologized to local military leaders for demonstrating during the national anthem in London last month. Jaguars President Mark Lamping sent a letter to the director of military affairs and veterans in Jacksonville saying the team was “remiss in not fully comprehending the effect of the national anthem demonstration on foreign soil has had on the men and women who have or continue to serve our country.” Most of the Jaguars, including owner Shad Khan, locked arms during the anthem on Sept. 24. About a dozen players took a knee during the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Wembley Stadium.

Auburn tells WR to go home
Auburn wide receiver Kyle Davis, an Archer High School alum, has been dismissed from the team. Coach Gus Malzahn announced the decision Tuesday, saying only that Davis broke team rules. Davis was one of three players suspended from the 21st-ranked Tigers’ opener against Georgia Southern for undisclosed reasons. He didn’t travel with the team to last weekend’s LSU game. Davis also missed spring practice for personal issues. His total of 210 receiving yards on seven catches ranks third on the team.

Georgia LB gets national notice
Junior linebacker Roquan Smith of Georgia has been selected to The Associated Press midseason All-America team. Quarterback Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma and star running backs Bryce Love of Stanford and Saquon Barkley of Penn State, along with two defensive backs from No. 1 Alabama, were also first-team selections. Big PGA payday in S. Korea
The inaugural CJ Cup at Nine Bridges in South Korea, part of the PGA Tour’s threetournament swing through Asia, begins today on Eastern Time (10 p.m., Golf Channel). The $9.25 million purse is the largest behind The Players Championship, the majors and the World Golf Championships.
