Keyplayersreturn for Floridamatchup
Jayson Stanley may not be a major piece for Georgia, but he’s another indication of the good state of the football team as the game against Florida approaches.
Stanley, a junior receiver and key special-teams contributor, was practicing Wednesday, after missing the past couple weeks with a lower leg injury. Stanley doesn’t have a catch this season but has played well as the gunner on the punt and kickoffff units.
Georgia already was set to get back two potential starters on defense.
DefensivelinemanTrenton Thompsonmissedtwogames with a sprained knee, but has practiced this week and hasn’t hadmany limitations, coach Kirby Smart said. “He looksquickout there,” Smart said. “He hasn’t taken a step back, so that’s good.”
Senior inside linebacker Reggie Carter, who missed two games with a concussion, has also been practicing. He would likely slide intoa starting spot thisweek, with junior Natrez Patrick serving the third of a fourgame suspension.
Sophomore defensive lineman DavidMarshall has also been practicing this week after missing the Missouri game with an undisclosed injury. But not every injured player is quite back yet.
Junior DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle, who would play nose tackle and defensive tackle, continues to be absent. Hawkins-Muckle, who has seven tackles in six games this year, also has an undisclosed injury.
Reserve defensive back Rashad Roundtree does not appear close to returning.
