Taqueria in Cobb fails inspection
A Cobb County restaurant failed its second health inspection in a row. Julia’s Taqueria in Marietta received a 61/U on Dec. 19. It had previously received a 60/U on Aug. 23, 2016. The inspector observed several repeat violations:
■ Documentation for the Cetfied Food Safety Manager had expired in 2011. The owner currently does not have a CFSM present at facility.
■ Excessive black and pink mold was located in the interior of the ice machine located in main kitchen.
■ Thermometers were not present in several cooler units during inspection.
■ Dirty damp wiping cloths were observed in prep area and on grill. Cloths in use for whipping are to be held between uses in a chemical sanitizer solution according to the health code.
New violations included:
■ Observation of an employee inadequately washing hands in prep sink. According to health code rules hand-washing must occur for at least 20 seconds using soap and friction in a sink designated for hand-washing.
■ There were also no date markings on time/temperature controlled foods located in any of the refrigerated units. Such foods that are being held for more than 24 hours must be date marked and consumed or sold within seven days after the original preparation date. .
■ Three bottles of whipped cream stored in the walk-in cooler and still in use had a use-by date of April 23, 2016.
■ Food was stored in to-go plastic bags inside cooler and freezer located in dry storage area. Foods are to be stored in only food grade packaging.
According to the report, a follow-up inspection will be completed within 10 business days of the failed inspection.
