2 arrested in fatal shooting of teenager
Union City police tie killing to ‘an ongoing dispute.’
Authorities have arrested two men in connection with the shooting death Monday of Chevelle Thompson, Union City police said.
Hours after the shooting, authorities arrested Isaiah Turner, 19. He was being held at the Fulton County Jail on charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
On Tuesday, Tre Graham, 18, was taken into custody and faces charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.
“While the motive for this tragic event appears to be an ongoing dispute,” Union City police said in a statement, “investigators are working to determine if other actors played a role in Thompson’s death.”
Officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Rock Road about 3:50 p.m., Officer Jerald January said.
According to Channel 2, Thompson was shot twice as he walked to a convenience store at the corner of High Point Road and Roosevelt Highway. Someone picked Thompson up and brought him back to the neighborhood to get help, Channel 2 reported.
Neighbors tried to apply pressure to the teen’s wounds until paramedics arrived, but Thompson did not survive.
Since Saturday, two teens have been gunned down in metro Atlanta.
Nicholas Glasco, 18, was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of Old Friar Tuck Road near Stone Mountain. Dean Dunkley, 18, was charged with murder in connection with the deadly shooting, DeKalb County police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell said.
Glasco was weeks away from his high school graduation, family members said.
