Enjoy food from some of Atlanta’s top chefs for good causes and learn all about rosé and sake in May in Atlanta.

Eat up to help kids

Celebratin­g its 30th anniversar­y, Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry will offer food and spirits from more than 75 of Atlanta-area restaurant­s, live, silent and beverage auctions, wine tastings and live entertainm­ent. The event will be hosted by chef and Food Network personalit­y Alton Brown and fivetime heavyweigh­t champion boxer Evander Holyfield, and all proceeds benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to end childhood hunger in America.

Rise up for rosé

Wear pink and white to the inaugural La Fête du Rosé, which offers up bottles of rosé as well as picnic baskets curated by chef and singer Kelis. On the entertainm­ent side, listen up for D Js and live music.

Dine outside for a cause

Enjoy a day outdoors with Wholesome Wave’s Picnic in the Park. The event provides picnic basket lunches prepared by Atlanta chefs and restaurant­s such as Wrecking Bar Brewpub, Richards’ Southern Fried and General Muir as well as beer and wine, live music, dancing and lawn games. Proceeds will benefit Wholesome Wave’s programs aimed at providing fresh, healthy foods for low-income and food-insecure families.

Come out for crawfish

Enjoy a traditiona­l crawfish boil for a good cause with Crawfish for Cancer. The block party will feature bites from soon-to-open Cabbagetow­n restaurant Mouth of the South, live music, 750 pounds’ worth of crawfish boil, specialty cocktails, giveaways, a photo booth and games. Proceeds from the event benefit multiple myeloma cancer research.

Explore Atlanta’s diverse restaurant community

Second Self Beer Co. and artisan butcher shop Pine Street Market are teaming up to host Feed Diversity: Building a Bigger Table. The outdoor tasting event will feature Second Self beers and a pig roast and grilled chicken from chef

Andre Gomez of Porch Light Latin Kitchen in collaborat­ion with Riverview Farms, Springer Mountain Farms and Big Green Egg. There will also be bites from Hyatt Regency, King of Pops, Saltyard, the Shed at Glenwood, South of Heaven BBQ, Steinbeck’s Ale House, and Taiyo Ramen and coffee beverages from Refuge Coffee Co. Proceeds will benefit local refugee charities Global Growers and Friends of Refugees.

Sip some sake

Become a sake expert at Nakato’s sake tasting class, led by the restaurant’s servers, who are also Certified Sake Advisors. Participan­ts will be served a seven-course meal, with each course paired with a different sake. The nuances of each sake, as well as the reasonings for the pairings, will be discussed.
