Gwinnett opens more early voting sites

Eight locations will be open ahead of May 22 election day.

Additional early voting locations are open this week in Gwinnett County.

Advance voting in Gwinnett — which includes state races like gubernatorial and legislative primaries, as well as high-profile local school board and commission races — began late last month, but only at the county’s elections office in Lawrenceville.

A total of eight locations will be open this week ahead of the official May 22 election day. The locations will be open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the county will update wait times for each polling place on its website hourly.

The voting locations are as follows:

■ Gwinnett County Elections Office: 455 Grayson Highway, Lawrenceville, GA 30046

■ Bogan Park Community Recreation Center: 2723 North Bogan Road, Buford, GA 30518

■ Dacula Park Activity Building: 2735 Old Auburn Road, Dacula, GA 30019

■ George Pierce Park Community Recreation Center: 55 Buford Highway, Suwanee, GA 30024

■ Lenora Park Activity Room: 4515 Lenora Church Road, Snellville, GA 30078

■ Lucky Shoals Park Community Recreation Center: 4651 Britt Road, Norcross, GA 30093

■ Mountain Park Activity Building: 1063 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30087

■ Shorty Howell Park Community Recreation Center: 2750 Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth, GA 30096

During its last general election in November 2016, Gwinnett County had to open advance voting locations earlier than planned due to large turnout and long waits.

The current elec t ion period is also Gwinnett’s first offering Spanish-language voting materials and assistance to those who need them. The offerings are necessary to comply with a mandate handed down by the U.S. Census Bureau.
