Indian restaurant fails again

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - - COUNTY BY COUNTY - By Pamela Miller For the AJC

A Cobb County restaurant received its second failed inspection in a little over a year. Aachi’s Indian Cuisine in Smyrna scored 44/U on Nov. 30. Previous scores include 92/A on Oct. 4, 2017, and 57/U on Sept. 21, 2017.

The inspector noted that there is no designated person in charge of food safety until the front of house manager and/or chef arrives. Employees were working for about three hours before either person arrived. Other violations included:

■ Employees weren’t washing hands. One hand sink was being used to wash produce. Hot water didn’t work at any sinks.

■ Food (seasonings and spices) was not covered overnight.

■ Equipment was not properly sanitized. Chlorine sanitizer was too weak and employees did not sanitize equipment after washing and rinsing at three-compartment sink.

■ Fresh produce (green squash) was not washed before prepping.

■ Water was leaking from the ceiling over dishwasher machine and beverage syrup dispensing storage unit.

■ Live and dead roaches were in the ware washing area and on side cookline prep counter.

Most restaurants with failed scores are reinspected within 10 days.
