City ap­proves 14 miles for street resur­fac­ing

The Sandy Springs City Coun­cil has ap­proved two lists of road­ways to­tal­ing more than 14 miles to be resur­faced in the 2019 fiscal year.

The first list con­tains about 10 miles of streets with low Pave­ment Con­di­tion In­dex (PCI) rat­ings. Some are well known to res­i­dents, in­clud­ing sec­tions of Mount Ver­non High­way, Northridge Road, Pow­ers Ferry Road and Sandy Springs Cir­cle. Es­ti­mated cost of the work is $3 mil­lion.

The sec­ond list of low-P CI streets, to­tal­ing 4.17 miles, will be sub­mit­ted to the Ge­or­gia Depart­ment of Trans­porta­tion with the city’s ap­pli­ca­tion for a fiscal 2019 Lo­cal Main­te­nance and Im­prove­ment Grant. The city will be re­quired to match 30 per­cent of the $906,447 grant, or $271,934.
