After a false alarm earlier this year, Cowtippers Steaks & Spirits will close its doors this month.

The bar wi ll be open at 1600 Piedmont Road through Thursday, a representative for the business confifirmed.

The restaurant didn’t provide details on the closure, but Tomorrow’s News Today reports a Chase Bank will likely take over the spot.

Cowtippers, part of Metrotainment Cafes, opened in 1993.

In January 2018, CEO Jeffff Landau announced the bar would close later that month.

“The restaurant has been a part of our restaurant group for a very long time,” said Landau in a statement at the time. “But with the changing climate of the city, we are going to close the restaurant and turn our attention to our other successful concepts including Hudson Grille, Einstein’s, Joe’s on Juniper, Hudson FC and Guaco Joe’s,” he said.

However, later that month, the restaurant announced it would remain open, citing “an outpouring of support from the community.”

The gay-friendly restaurant was kn own for it s welcoming patio, coun - try-themed events and outgoing staffffffffffff.

“Bent, hip and ready for fun, you can dress fancy or plain, from Bermuda shorts and polo shirt to a rhinestoned approximatio n of Dale Evans’s Las Vegas drag. You’ll fifit. Somebody at Cowtippers already has done it — and cracked a joke about it,” former AJC food writer Elliott Mackle wrote in 1993.
