Cobb gets fed­eral grant for Bomb Dis­posal Unit

Cobb County of­fi­cials have ac­cepted a $58,488 grant from the U.S. Depart­ment of Home­land Se­cu­rity for a Bomb Dis­posal Unit.

This fed­eral fund­ing is pro­vided through the Geor­gia Emer­gency Man­age­ment Agency “to en­hance ca­pa­bil­i­ties to pre­vent, pro­tect against, re­spond to and re­cover from ter­ror­ist at­tacks, ma­jor dis­as­ters and other emer­gen­cies in ac­cor­dance with the goals and ob­jec­tives of the State Strate­gic Plan.”

The grant will be used to buy one Nano 150 X-Ray sys­tem — with a charger and back­pack — and other Bomb Unit equip­ment and tools by the Cobb County Po­lice Depart­ment. No lo­cal match is re­quired.

The grant has been ac­cepted by the Cobb County Board of Com­mis­sion­ers.
