Cobb gets federal grant for Bomb Disposal Unit

Cobb County officials have accepted a $58,488 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for a Bomb Disposal Unit.

This federal funding is provided through the Georgia Emergency Management Agency “to enhance capabilities to prevent, protect against, respond to and recover from terrorist attacks, major disasters and other emergencies in accordance with the goals and objectives of the State Strategic Plan.”

The grant will be used to buy one Nano 150 X-Ray system — with a charger and backpack — and other Bomb Unit equipment and tools by the Cobb County Police Department. No local match is required.
