Q&A on the News

- SMYRNA THOMASTON

Why were half of the lots at the Hamilton E. Holmes Station chained off before the Falcons game? With only half the parking available, people were forced to go elsewhere in a frantic effort to find parking.

During the course of regular service days, MARTA police advise that all the parking lots at Hamilton E. Holmes Station don’t fill up. In a security effort, MARTA police will chain off lots to have everyone park in one central area, a MARTA spokesperson told Q&A on the News. When these lots fill up, the chained lots are opened and used for overflow parking.

On the Falcons Sunday game day when there was a chained lot, it was not needed at that time; there was still parking available in open lots at H.E. Holmes Station, according to MARTA.

I noticed during the Sugar Bowl that the Texas Longhorns’ uniforms are mighty close to the color of the football — closer to the football than any other team I’ve seen like Clemson, Tennessee and others. Isn’t there a rule that requires that all of each teams’ uniforms — jerseys, pants, shoes, helmets, etc. — contrast with not only the colors of the opposing team, but also must contrast with both the football and the green on the field?

There are no rules restricting the color of the uniform matching the color of the football or the field, according to the NCAA.
