Chiefs’ Berry, Ware could return for title game

Chiefs safety Eric Berry and running back Spencer Ware returned to practice We d ne s day, raising the possibility that both will be available for their AFC Championship game with New England.

Berry missed most of the season with a heel injury that developed in training camp, then played parts of two games vs. the Chargers and Seahawks. The heel began to bother the Fairburn native and former Creekside High School player again the next week, and he did not practice last week or play against Indianapolis. Ware hurt his hamstring in a Week 14 win over the Ravens.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid also said right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who was activated off injured reserve Tuesday, would work into the mix with starters. Whether he starts in Sunday’s game against the Patriots will be decided later in the week.

In other NFL news, the Bil l s re-signed Lorenzo Alexander to a one-year contract for what the veteran linebacker says will be his final season. And several teams hired coordinators Wednesday:

■ The Buccaneers picked Byron Leftwich as offensive coordinator, one of 16 staff additions announced by the team.

■ The Jaguars hired ex- Minnesota OC John DeFilippo to the same position.

■ Gregg Williams was hired as the Jets’ defensive coordinator, the first major staff addition by new coach Adam Gase. The 60-yearold went 5-3 as Cleveland’s interim coach this season. The team also will retain special teams coordinator Brant Boyer.

■ The Lions hired Darrell Bevell as their offensive coordinator. Bevell spent seven seasons as Seattle’s offensive coordinator from 2011-17 and was part of a Super Bowl winner with the Seahawks. Cash 3 Midday: 5-9-4 Cash 3 Evening: 1-1-8 Cash 3 Night:
