A five-year FAA reautho- rization was passed in October 2018. During the cur- rent shutdown, there has not been a lapse in the FAA’s authority, but instead, it is a lapse in funding, a spokes- person for Delta Air Lines told the AJC. The FAA did not get the money appropriated in its budget to continue running; previously it did not have the authorization as an agency to collect the ticket taxes.
