1 Resort burned: The private Bahamian resort Princess Cays, owned by Princess Cruises, went up in flames. The port at the southern tip of the Bahamian island Eleuthera hosts about five Princess and Carnival cruise ships every week. Bahamas Press footage from the area shows thick, bright yellow flames burning next to palm trees and beach chairs.

2 Chicken lawsuit: Darden Restaurant­s filed a lawsuit in federal court accusing Tyson Foods, Pilgrim’s Pride and other companies of a“conspiracy”to increase the cost of chicken meat. Darden, the Orlando-based parent of Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse, said the companies in the suit worked together to destroy breeder hens and eggs in a coordinate­d effort to drive down the number of chickens on the market and drive up prices.

3 Singer dies: Grammy-winning singer and songwriter James Ingram, who topped the charts with hits like “Baby, Come to Me” and “Somewhere Out There,” died, according to his close friend, actress Debbie Allen. The musician was 66. TMZ reported Ingram died after a battle with brain cancer.

School deal: The Los Angeles 4 Board of Education unanimousl­y approved a contract with the teachers’ union despite a warning from an oversight agency that the costs of it are “unsustaina­ble.”

5 Helping officers: Florida sheriff has ordered counseling for deputies who responded to a bank shooting where five women died. Highlands County Sheriff Paul Blackman said his office suffered additional trauma after the Jan. 23 shooting at a SunTrust branch in Sebring when a sergeant killed himself Saturday. He had not been involved in the bank investigat­ion. Blackman said last week’s tragedies “highlight the importance of seeking treatment for mental health issues.”
