Cops: Teen abducted, assaulted

A 19-year-old college student said she was kidnapped, forced to drive from Decatur to northwest Atlanta and then sexually assaulted at gunpoint last week, authorities said.

Megan, who told Channel 2 Action News to refer to her by only her first name, said she was waiting for her boyfriend to get off work around 9:30 p.m. Friday when a man approached her car. It’s AJC. com’s policy not to identify victims of sexual assault unless they choose to identify themselves. She said the man began to talk to her, brandished a gun, asked her for money and got into the passenger seat of her tan 2003 Honda Civic. This took place in the 700 block of Derrydown Way.

He then allegedly pointed a gun at her face and told her to drive to Atlanta.

“It was like he had done it before. He was so calm about it the whole time,” Megan told Channel 2. “I just started crying — bawling. It was so terrifying.”

Around 10 p.m., Megan’s aunt called DeKalb police to report her kidnapping, according to a police incident report obtained by AJC. com. Shortly after, Atlanta police called DeKalb police to say Megan was found, but the man attempted to sexually assault her and dumped her on the side of the road before taking her car, the report said.

On Jan. 4, Decatur police said a suspect attempted a carjacking in the 800 block of Derrydown Way, and while police don’t know if the two incidents are related, they are working with DeKalb police to try to find out, Decatur police spokeswoman Jennifer Ross said.
