Bulldogs, Yellow Jackets lose in conference tournaments
Chelsea Dungee scored 31 points, her fourth 30-point outing of the season, and 10th-seeded Arkansas upended No. 7 Georgia 86-76 on Thursday night in the second round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Greenville, S.C.
Alexis Tolefree had 13 points, Kiara Williams and Jailyn Mason 12 each and Malicia Monk 10 as all five Arkansas starters scored in double figures for the second time this season.
The Razorbacks (17-13) face second-seeded and 12th-ranked South Carolina in today’s quarterfinals.
The Bulldogs won both regular-season meetings.
Arkansas shot 56 percent for the game, making 7 of 16 behind the 3-point line and 15 of 17 from the foul line. Mason went 4 of 4 behind the arc.
Taja Cole had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs (18-11) and Caliya Robinson scored 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting with nine rebounds.

North Carolina 80, Georgia Tech 73: Leah Church scored 20 points and Jocelyn Jones had 14, both careerhighs, and eighth-seeded North Carolina pulled away from ninth-seeded Georgia Tech in a battle between short-handed teams in the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament on Thursday.
The Tar Heels (18-13), who earned a quarterfinal date with top-seeded and fourthranked Notre Dame today, also got 19 points from Paris Kea and 18 from Shayla Bennett.
North Carolina was without Janelle Bailey, who matches Kea’s team-leading 16.7 points a game and is tops in rebounding at 8.9, because of a suspension following her ejection from the final game of the regular season.
Georgia Tech (17-13) was without coach MaChelle Joseph after she was put on leave before the last two games of the regular season. Two starters have not played since then.
Elizabeth Dixon and Lotta-Maj Lahtinen had 12 points apiece for the Yellow Jackets and Chanin Scott had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
