Abortion is none of government’s business
Regarding “Anti-abortion law fallout delays Kemp’s L.A. trip” (News, May 15), Gov. Brian Kemp is quoted saying, “I can’t govern because I’m worried about what someone in Hollywood thinks about me.” This quote puzzles me. If the governor has no reservations or qualms regarding the bill he championed in campaigning and signed posthaste, why the reluctance to publicly defend the legislation? It seems to me that those Hollywood heathens, as well as some of us Georgia heathens, could benefit from a rational justification for a law that criminalizes a woman’s personal decision. For the record, I’m not pro-abortion. I think that it must be the most painful decision a woman and her partner will ever make. But it’s none of my business. Nor is it the governor’s business.
