1 YANKEES:

Shortstop Didi Gregorius played five innings of defense and went 2 for 4 with a walk Monday at extended spring training in his first game action since Tommy John surgery Oct. 17. Playing against Detroit Tigers minor leaguers and in front of Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenn­er, Gregorius singled twice and cleanly fielded three grounders but had an error for an errant throw to first base. Gregorius appears on track to start a minor league injury rehabilita­tion assignment in a week or two and rejoin the Yankees in late June.

2 INDIANS:

Two-time AL Cy Young winner Corey Kluber will have an X-ray on Thursday to evaluate his right arm, broken when hit by a line drive May 1. Kluber has had his arm in a cast since being injured. Manager Terry Francona said Monday the cast could be removed and replaced with a removable splint, depending on the results of the X-ray.

3 ASTROS:

American League home run leader George Springer sat out with stiffness in his lower back when the Astros opened a series at home against the White Sox. The outfielder made an early exit Sunday at Fenway Park when he felt tightness. Springer, who has 17 home runs, will be reevaluate­d in Houston.

4 NATIONALS:

Right-hander Trevor Rosenthal (viral infection) will pitch an inning for Double-A Harrisburg on Monday and then be re-evaluated . ... First baseman Matt Adams (left shoulder strain) has begun swinging a bat and could take batting practice this week.

5 DIAMONDBAC­KS:

Second baseman Wilmer Flores left Sunday’s game in the fourth inning after getting hit on the right foot by a pitch in the third. Ketel Marte moved from center field to second base and Jarrod Dyson entered in center.
