1 Drugmakers can face trial: A federal judge overseeing litigation related to the nation’s opioid epidemic has ruled that claims against Purdue Pharma and other drug companies can move to trial as the OxyContin maker tries to reach a settlement.

2 Three shot at state fair: Three people were shot outside the Minnesota State Fair on Monday night. Authoritie­s are investigat­ing the gunman’s whereabout­s hours after the Labor Day shooting sent thousands of fairgoers into panic, police told The Washington Post. St. Paul Police spokesman Steve Linders told The Post that no arrests have been made. The three injured men, two 20-year-olds and an 18-year-old, suffered nonfatal injuries and are expected to survive, Linders said.

4 Girl’s body in closet for days: Police say the body of a 5-year-old girl was in a closet in a Houston apartment for days before she was discovered by relatives. Police say her mother was there when officers arrived and that she is being questioned. No charges have been announced.

4 Biles ‘aches’ for victims: Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles says she’s struggling with the arrest of her brother who was charged in a shooting that left three dead. She said in a tweet Monday that her heart aches for everyone involved, especially the victims and their families.

5 Palestinia­n Harvardstu­dent allowed into U.S.: Ismail Ajjawi, a Palestinia­n student denied entry to the United States last month at the airport in Boston, was allowed to enter the country Monday and was at Harvard in time for the beginning of classes, according to Amideast, the group that sponsored him. Ajjawi, 17, landed at Logan Internatio­nal Airport in Boston on Aug. 23 and was turned back after immigratio­n officials objected to his friends’ social media posts.
