1 Dodgers: LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu will skip a start in the rotation this week at Baltimore to get some rest. Ryu had a major leagueleading ERA of 1.45 on Aug. 11. Since then, his ERA has skied to 9.95, and he’s given up five home runs in the four starts since then. Ryu had allowed just 10 in 22 starts before that. The South Korean has pitched 161⅔ innings this season, his most since 2013 when he first joined the Dodgers.
2 Giants: RHP Trevor Gott (right elbow strain) was transferred to the 60-day IL . ... RHP Johnny Cueto, recovering from Tommy John surgery last year, will throw a bullpen session in L.A. to see how his back feels after experiencing tightness.
3 Mets: Todd Frazier reached a milestone when he singled to center for the 1,000th hit of his career. Frazier was congratulated by first base coach Glenn Sherlock as the ball was tossed into the Mets dugout for safekeeping. “You don’t really think about it when you first get called up, you want to just stay up there and have as much fun as you (can),” Frazier said.“You get to 500, 700 and eventually 1,000 (hits). It means a lot. It’s going to be a keepsake for me.”
Brewers: C Manny Pina, who left 4 Thursday’s game after taking a foul ball off the mask, suffered a concussion. He will miss at least a couple of games. C Jacob Nottingham was recalled from Triple-A San Antonio.
5 Astros: SS Carlos Correa (lower back soreness) worked out on the field before Friday’s game and felt good. Manager AJ Hinch said the next step would for him to hit on the field as he moves closer to a return . ... Reliever Ryan Pressly (arthroscopic knee surgery) threw about 15 pitches two-thirds up the slope of the mound Friday, and Hinch said he will likely throw a bullpen session soon.
